Demory-Wortman House

A carefully restored 19th century farmstead, the Demory-Wortman house serves as a wonderful location for vacation rentals. The house features a modern kitchen, large living room, and five bedrooms. Enjoy the scenic views of Mountain View Farm from the house grounds or one of the porches off the second floor bedrooms.

The original house, built in 1848, was a two-story log cabin showing considerable German influence typical of the time period. Sometime around 1900 a major addition was added to the original log house and the logs were enclosed. The Demory-Wortman House has been nicely renovated by the Blue Ridge Center and is outfitted with comfortable, rustic furnishings.

The Demory-Wortman House is the perfect getaway location due to its proximity to a vast array of recreational and educational opportunities. Visitors have walking access to the 10-mile Blue Ridge Center trail-network, with unlimited wildlife viewing potential. The Blue Ridge Center trails also join the Appalachian Trail property for visitors who want to take a couple of days off from hiking.

For outdoor enthusiasts, nearby kayaking, rafting, fishing, tubing, mountain biking, and hiking options are endless within 5 miles of the property. The C&O canal biking/hiking trail and Potomac River can be accessed within 3 miles of the property.

The Demory-Wortman House is located 3 miles from historic Harpers Ferry, WV. Visitors can tour the National Historic Park, old town, museums, and Civil War battlefields. A 25 minute drive brings visitors to downtown Leesburg, VA or Frederick, MD. Both feature quaint downtown areas where shopping and dining choices abound. A 10 minute drive to the Harpers Ferry train station puts the entire Washington D.C. train and metro system at your disposal.
